The Castleton Garland was a fixture in the annual Oak Apple Day (May 29th) held in the village of Castleton, Derbyshire. The 'garland', which is a bell-shaped structure made of a circular metal rim with wooden lathes that meet at the top, festooned with garden and wildflowers. It is constructed in turn by each of the village pubs, and is large enough to fit over the head of the "King" of the garland procession. The procession tours the village, stopping at each of the pubs, where there is dancing and a maypole in the village square.
