The "Cuckow Hornpipe" appears in the music copybook of violinist George Malecot, of Whitehaven, England, dated 1776-1779. The melody also appears in the music manuscript copybook of John Burks, dated 1821, ascribed to "by M.A." (a photocopy is in the possession of the ed.).
