ABERDEEN. AKA – “Talk:De’il’s Dead (The).” English, Country Dance Tune (cut time). F Major. Standard tuning. AABB. The tune was published in John and William Neal’s Choice Collection of Country Dances (Dublin, 1726). Barnes (English Country Dance Tunes, vol. 2), 2005; pg. 1.
The melody was published in Dublin in 1726 by John and William Neal in their Choice Collection of Country Dances. Despite being located in Dublin, the Neals printed country dances popular in England and few Irish tunes appear in the collection. The melody also has associations with Scotland in both title and alternate title.
