The tune popular for recreational singing and was employed for the 1817 American song "The Old Oaken Bucket" (words by Samuel Woodworth, 1785–1842). "Araby's Daughter" was printed c. 1824 in Philadelphia in G.E. Blake's Gentleman's Amusement and in Glazier, Masters & Co.'s Complete Preceptor for the Clarionet (c. 1828).
