HAWICK LASSES. Scottish, Reel. D Mixolydian/Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Robert Pringle and originally published in his half-brother biography:John Pringle's Collection of Reels, Strathspeys & Jigs (1801). Hawick [1] is town in the Teviotdale area of the southeast Borders region of the country, and many of Pringle's tunes have place names from the region or are named for people there. The tune also appears in the Shand Collection.
