It may be that both developed independently from the original air. The original "Home Sweet Home" was from John Howard Payne's play Clari, Or The Maid Of Milan, produced in 1823. A string band arrangement of the tune was recorded by Da Costa Woltz's Southern Broadcasters (Galax, Va.) in 1927.
