Composed by Cape Breton fiddler Dougie MacDonald, a member of musical MacDonald family of Queensville, Cape Breton. He often played and recorded with his first cousins, fiddler and comedian Howie MacDonald, guitarist Sandy MacDonald and singer Jeff MacDonald. MacDonald was also a miner, who worked at several mine sites in Canada. He died in a car accident at age 41 in 2009.
