It is possible that "Lovesick Polly" is the air to a song called "The Serenade or Love-sick Polly," adaped from a song called "Tre giorni son che Nina." The English song was inserted into the performances of V. Ciampi's opera Li Tre Cicisbei Ridicoli, first produced in Venice in 1748, and performed in London in March, 1749. Some of the songs from the opera were printed by Walsh.
