LOVELY STORNOWAY. Scottish, Slow Air (3/4 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. Stornoway [1] is a large town on the Isle of Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides. Words and music were composed by Calum Kennedy and Bob Halfin, although Halfin seems to have had a habit of sharing composer credits with others to enlist their aid. The lyric begins:
Make your way to Stornoway,
On the road to Orinsay,
Where my thoughts return each day,
By lovely Stornoway.
Where the folks are truly kind,
Where you leave the world behind,
Where each cloud is silver lined,
By lovely Stornoway.
Calum Kennedy is a Scottish singer, who can be seen/heard performing the tune on youtube [2].
