MACLEOD'S FAREWELL. AKA - "Wedding Reel (The)." Scottish, Reel. E Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. Composed in the late 1980's by Donald Shaw, a Scottish musician, composer, producer, and one of the founding members of the group Capercaillie. The tune was written for another founding member of the group, fiddler Martin MacLeod, who had left the group for other pursuits. Shaw is known for his accordion and keyboard playing with the group. "The Wedding Reel" title for the tune comes from the group Lunasa, who miss-named it on their album "Merry Sisters of Fate."
