CANTEEN CALL, THE. AKA and see "French Taptoo," "Old Drummer's Delight." English, Air. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. biography:Elias Howe (c. 1867) categorizes the tune among the 'songs' section. However, it appears to be a martial tune, perhaps borrowed from the French, printed by James Aird in 1785 as "French Taptoo." Howe also gives "Old Drummer's Delight" as an alternate title.
