CARNIE'S CANTER. Scottish, Reel. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part (Hunter): AB (Skye): AABB (Perlman). Composed by biography:J. Scott Skinner (1842-1927). The tune is well represented by Cape Breton fiddlers, including Winston Fitzgerald (who recorded it on a 78 RPM disc) and Buddy MacMaster. One of the earliest 78 RPM recordings, Celtic 006 released in 1936, featured fiddler Dan J. Campbell playing this tune (in medley with "Mrs. Dingwall of Brockly's").
