EGAN'S HORNPIPE. AKA and see "Dublin Hornpipe (4)," "Rose of Drishane (The)." Irish, Hornpipe. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody appears in the c. 1885 music manuscript of Francis Reynolds of County Longford as "Dublin Hornpipe (4)." Although Francis O'Neill printed the Rice-Walsh version in his 1922 Waifs and Strays of Gaelic Melody, he had earlier printed a version of the tune in Music of Ireland (1903) as "Rose of Drishane (The)."
