GOROUM, THE. AKA and see "Comely Jane Downing," "Haul Away the Hawser (2)," "Larry Bourn," "Seymour's Fancy." Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. O'Neill prints the tune as "Comely Jane Downing," but the original version is an English country dance called "Seymour's Fancy," printed in London in 1793. The melody is known in North West England as "Haul Away the Hawser (2)" and was entered into the copybook of ship's fiddler William Litten as "Lord Summer's Reel."
