OLD BALDY KICKIN' UP. American, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune is sourced to fiddler biography:Owen Chapman (1919-2002) of Chapman's Hollow, Canada, Pike County, southeastern Kentucky. The tune sounds like it might have British origins, and at least one reviewer has noticed similarities to "Dance to Your Daddy" and "Morpeth Rant (1) [1]. The title, thought not the melody, is also reminiscent of Ozarks fiddler Jim Herd's reel "Hold Old Bald While I Dance with Josie."
