OLD IRELAND REJOICE. Irish, Air (3/4 time). D Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The melody was included by Scottish musician and dancing master David Young in his MacFarlane Manuscript (c. 1740, No. 52, pp. 102-107), "Written for the use of Walter Mcfarlan of that ilk." The air was printed in Samuel, Ann & Peter Thompson's Hibernian Muse (London, 1787) as simply "Irish Air." P.W. Joyce's "Old Ireland Rejoice" is a development of the tune.
