REEL DE CHICOUTIMI. French Canadian, Reel. E Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Chicoutimi is a town in the Saguenay region of the Province of Québec. This widespread tune was recorded by Québec accordion great Alfred Montmarquette (1871-1944) in 1928, but was probably an older fiddle tune for country dancing. Related tunes are Jospeh Allard's "Reel de Péribonka," and "Reel de campagne." See also the related 2nd strain of "Reel de Berthier."
