ROSE BUSH. AKA and see "Merry Christmas (1) (A)." Irish (?), Jig (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Francis O'Neill printed a version of the tune as "A Merry Christmas" in his Music of Ireland (1903, No. 841) and Dance Music of Ireland (1907, No. 103), credited to Sergeant James O'Neill. It seems likely Sgt. O'Neill adapted it from Ryan's Mammoth Collection. The first strains of both tunes are identical, although the second strains differ somewhat.
