SIR ROBERT G. GORDON BART. OF LETTERFOURIE. Scottish, Reel. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Aberdeenshire fiddler-composer biography:Alexander Walker (b. 1819) in honor of Sir Robert Glendonwyn Gordon (1824–1908), laird of the estate of Letterfourie. In the early 1840's Walker began his apprenticeship as a master gardener with Sir James Gordon (1779–1843) of Letterfourie House, Parish of Rathven, Moray, a mansion that was was built in 1773 by famed architect Robert Adam, and which overlooked the Burn of Buckie. Sir Robert succeeded Sir William Gordon, 9th Baronet, as 10th Baronet in 1861 but the line (and title) ended with his death in 1908 and the estate passed into Seafield hands.
