BONINTOWN WELL. AKA and see "Brown's Reel (1)," "Duillater House." Scottish, Reel. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. John Glen finds the earliest printing of the tune in Robert Bremner's 1757 collection. The reel is printed by the Gows as "Brown's Reel (1)." Bonintown Well (or Bonnington Well) is also known as St. Cuthbert's Well, near Edinburgh (there are other springs with the name 'St. Cuthbert's Well' in Britain), the saint having been a Scotch monk of the sixth century, whom some term the 'St. Patrick of Great Britain.'
