HILL LILLY. AKA and see "Chicoutimi Reel (2)," "Western Gem." American, Reel or Hornpipe (2/4 time). A Major ('A' part) & E Major ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Hill Lilly" was printed as a hornpipe by the Elias Howe company in Boston in the 1880's, and identically as "Western Gem in another Howe company publication, Ryan's Mammoth Collection, also from the 1880's. However it was recorded as a reel by Canadian radio and TV fiddler Don Messer and his group in 1947.
