Back to Charlie Lennon's Mazurka

CHARLIE LENNON'S [1]. Irish, Mazurka (3/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Irish musician and composer Charlie Lennon is a pianist and fiddler and a much sought-after accompanist for traditional music since the 1950's. However, this mazurka predates him, and was recorded in New York by Ballybofey, County Donegal, fiddler Hugh Gillespie (1906-1986) in 1937 (untitled "Irish Mazurka").

Printed source: Sullivan (Session Tunes), vol. 2; No. 52, p. 22.
