CÉDULI. French-Canadian, Reel. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). An irregular, or 'crooked', tune composed by Chicoutimi fiddler and story-teller Louis "Pitou" Boudreault (1905-1988). As a young man in the 1920's and 1930's Boudrealt was much in demand as a performer in the Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean region, but retired from public appearances thereafter. In the 1970's, after a hiatus of 35 years Bourealt was encouraged to compete in a fiddle contest in Montréal. He was a surprise winner, and a revival of his musical career followed, with several appearances at the Mariposa folk festival, recordings, and a documentary film.
