DEVIL'S MAGGOT, THE. American, Jig. C Major ('A' part) & C Dorian ('B' part). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed in the English country dance style by pianist Jonathan Jensen in 1985. Jensen is also a bassist with the Baltimore Symphony. A 'maggot' was an old term for a brief melody-a fancy, or trifle, from the Italian word magioletta meaning a plaything.
