Back to Doctor (1) (The)


DOCTOR [1], THE. AKA and see "Gollochy's Farewell," "Balvenie Castle." Scottish, Strathspey. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Credited by Gow to the great strathspey composer William Marshall (1748-1833) when published in the former's Repository, Part Third, third edition (1806). Gow did not credit Marshall in his earlier editions. Marshall's own earlier titles for the melody were "Gollochy's Farewell" and "Balvenie Castle."
