Back to Flowers of Caledonia (The)


FLOWERS OF CALEDONIA, THE. AKA - "Flower of Caledonia." Scottish, Strathspey. G Minor (Carlin): A Dorian (Mackie). Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The melody appears in the early 19th century music manuscript collection of Aberdeen musician William Mackie. Mackie was a Highland bagpiper and Scottish small-piper, although sections of his ms. appear to include settings for the flute and/or fiddle.
