Back to Fourpenny Bit (The)
FOURPENNY BIT, THE (An Tuisduin/Tuistiun). AKA and see "Lománach Cross," "Spinner's Delight." Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (O'Neill/1850 & 1001): AABB' (O'Neill/Krassen).
Source for notated version: "Fielding" [O'Neill]. The Rev. James K. Fielding was a Chicago priest "widely known as a proponent of traditional Irish pastimes." He was born in Mooncoin, County Kilkenny, in the 1860's, where he learned to play the flute. Fielding is credited as the source of a number of tunes in Music of Ireland.
