Back to Happy Bill Daniels' Quadrille
HAPPY BILL DANIELS' QUADRILLE. American, Quadrille (12/8 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABACA'B'A'DDE. Happy Bill Daniels (1853-1923) was a popular and influential fiddler in the central ten counties of New York State for fifty years. Born in Broome County, New York, he was reportedly "generous with his musical knowledge," and McDermott, a Tomkins County, New York, fiddler learned quite a bit from his repertoire. He recorded this quadrille as one of his first records for the Brunswick label (Bronner). The piece is a collection of strains, the only recognizable one of which is "Turkey in the Straw."
