HAZY HILLS WALTZ. Old-Time, Waltz. USA, Missouri. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by Missouri fiddler Lonnie Robertson (1908-1981), c. 1960's.Drew Beisswenger (2008) explains that source Robertson and his wife retired from touring in the 1950's and settled down to run a motel at Lake Bull Shoals, Theodosia, Mo., called the Hazy Hills Resort. According to Gordon McCann (2008), Robertson told him that the up-tempo part was a variation of "Texas Quickstep." "Wednesday Night Waltz" by the Leake County Revelers is an earlier piece with a similar timing change that was quite popular.
