ISLAND BOY. AKA and see "Larry O'Gaff Reel." Canadian, Reel. Canada, Prince Edward Island. D Major/Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Perlman identifies the tune as a variant of the Irish jig "Larry O'Gaff," adapted to reel time.

Source for notated version: Ervan Sonier {1920-1994} & Toussaint Arsenault {b. 1916} (Summerside, East Prince County, PEI) [Perlman].

Printed sources: Perlman (The Fiddle Music of Prince Edward Island), 1996; p. 69.

Recorded sources: Rounder CD 7014, Denis Pitre - "Fiddlers of Western Prince Edward Island" (1997. "The cut shows the quintessential Western P.E.I. fiddle style-fast tempo, singing fiddle, infectious rhythm, and quite a bit of syncopation").
