Back to Éamonn Mhagáine (2)
ÉAMONN MHAGÁINE [2]. AKA - "Eamonn McGann." Irish, Slow Air (3/4 time, "Slow and distinct"). G Mixolydian. One part. Éamonn Mhagáine is perhaps the name of a highwayman, notes Goodman. The song is widely disseminated in Ireland, with versions having been collected in Cork, Donegal, Galway and Tipperary.
Source for notated version: a manuscript collection dated 1861, compiled by Church of Ireland cleric and uilleann piper James Goodman (1828-1896) who collected largely in County Cork [Shields].
