The title, similar to "Cattle in the Corn," appears in a list of traditional Ozark Mountain fiddle tunes compiled by musicologist/folklorist Vance Randolph, published in 1954. <br> <br> ''Recorded source:'' Edison 51548 (78 RPM), 1923, John Baltzell (Mt. Vernon, Ohio) {appears as 2nd tume of "Farmer's Medley Quadrille"}. Baltzell was taught fiddle by Dan Emmett (d. 1904), minstrel, who also was born in Baltzell's home town of Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Emmett had returned there, poor, in 1888.
