BOBBING AROUND [2]. English, Morris Dance Tune (6/8 time). G Major (Mallinson): A Major (Bacon). Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Bacon): ABB, x4 (Mallinson). Similar to version #1. This version is from the village of Bampton, in England's Cotswolds.
Printed sources: Bacon (The Morris Ring), 1974; p. 41. Mallinson (Mally's Cotswold Morris Book), vol. 1, 1988; No. 6, p. 10. Rhett Krause, "‘Bobbin' Around’: Yankee Character Song and Bampton Morris Tune", Country Dance and Song, 24 (1994), p. 14-24 (The A part is clearly derived from W. J. Florence's song).
Recorded source: Veteran VT111, Francis Shergold - "Greeny Up" (1988. Recorded from Bampton morris musicians.)
