BOBBIE CUTHBERTSON. Scottish, Canadian; Hornpipe. A Mixolydian/Dorian. Standard tuning. AA'BBCCDD. Composed by Pipe Major John Wilson, a champion piper originally from Scotland who emigrated to Canada about the time of World War II. The pipe setting is straight mixolydian, though fiddler Fitzgerald flatted some of the 'c' notes in the second and fourth part. Christine Martin (2002) notes that "Bobbie Cuthbertson" is the most popular vehicle for solo hornpipe dancing in modern Highland dancing competitions.
