KEPHART'S CLOG. American, Clog or Hornpipe. USA, southwestern Pa. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. A local southwestrn Pennsylvania title, perhaps idiosyncratic to Bayard's source, for this early 19th century hornpipe. Bayard, typically casting his net broadly, captures it in the same large tune family as "Fred Wilson's Clog," "Wilson's Clog," "Snyder's Jig" (Pa.), "Harvest Home (1)," "Cincinnati Hornpipe (1)," "Kildare Fancy," "Standard Hornpipe," "Cork Hornpipe (1)," "Zig-Zag Hornpipe/Zig-Zag Clog," "Higgins' Hornpipe," "Cliff Hornpipe," "Ruby Lip," and "Dundee Hornpipe." While these tunes are not identical, they do share melodic material between them.

Source for notated version: Joseph Pardee (elderly fiddler from Indiana County, Pa., 1952) [Bayard].
