MAURICE O'CONNOR [2]. AKA - "Young O'Connor." Irish, Planxty (6/8 time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed by blind Irish harper Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738). See Annotation:Maurice O'Connoer (1) for notes on the subject of the title.

Source for notated version: The music manuscript collection of Edward Bunting (MS. 33, book 2, p. 42) [O'Sullivan]. Bunting himself noted in his manuscript: "Plangsty Young O'Conner. Carolan. From printed book. No opinion of this tune, though a pretty one." O'Sullvan thought Bunting's source was John Lee's Favourite Collection of the so much admired old Irish Tunes (1780).

Printed sources: Complete Collection of Carolan's Irish Tunes, 1984; No. 116, p. 85. O'Sullivan (Carolan: The Life, Times, and Music of an Irish Harper), 1956; No. 116, p. 163.

Recorded sources: Foxglove FG0150CD, Randal Bays - "Salmon's Leap" (2000).
