MEETING OF THE WATERS [2]. Scottish (originally), Canadian, American; March (4/4 time). USA, New England. Canada, Prince Edward Island. A Major (most versions): D Major (Martin, Perlman). Standard tuning (fiddle). One part (Martin): AB (Laufman, Miller & Perron, Sweet): AABB (Perlman): AA'BB' (Songer): AA'AA'BB'BB' (Phillips). The tune was, in past years, a staple at New England contra dances when grand marches were in vogue.
