LADS OF SALTCOATS, THE. AKA - "Lads of Saltcots." AKA and see "Lasses of the Ferry/Lassies of the Ferry," "Hoch Hey Johnny Lad." English, Reel. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Saltcoats is in Ayrshire, however, the title appears only in English collections (Rutherford, Vickers, Walsh). Stewart (c. 1762) prints the tune as "Lassies of the Ferry".
