MONASTEREVIN FANCY, THE (Rogha Mhainistir Eimhín). AKA - "Monasteraden Fancy (The)." Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. See also the similar and perhaps related "Kitty Gone a Milking" and "Come West Along the Road." The Moat céilí band recorded the tune in the 1940's, calling it "Monasteraden Fancy (The)." The spelling makes a difference, as Monasterevin [1] is a town in County Kildare, on the River Barrow, while Monasteraden [2] is a village in County Sligo, on the border of Roscommon.

Source for notated version: From a ms. made available by Jack Murphy [Breathnach].
