NATIONAL GUARDS' HORNPIPE. American, Hornpipe. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "As performed by J. Hand" is noted along with the tune in Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883). John and Jimmy Hand's names are attached to several tunes in William Bradbury Ryan's collection. They are thought to be related siblings or father/son, and perhaps bandleaders or musicians in the Boston region.
