CLOSE TO THE FLOOR [1]. AKA and see "Father Tom's Wager," "Frog in the Well (1) (The)," "Paddy O'Brien's Jig." Irish, Jig. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. One of several compositions credited to J. Hand in Ryan's Mammoth Collection (Don Meade believes that brothers John and James Hand were Boston-area fiddlers and entertainers in the mid-19th century). The tune was recorded by the Cape Breton trio the MacLellan Trio on a 78 RPM disc.
