PAY THE GIRL HER FOURPENCE (Diol Do'n Cailina Tuistiun). AKA and see “Give the Girl Her Fourpence," "Ril na Drithleog.” Irish, Reel. E Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A reel-time version of “Molly from Longford (1),” set as both a jig and reel. The title is a sexually suggestive one, remarks Brendan Breathnach. The reel was recorded in 1915 in the 78 RPM era by fiddler James McCarthy (with pianist Paddy Muldoon backing him), for Gennett Records.
