PAY THE GIRL HER FOURPENCE (Diol Do'n Cailina Tuistiun). AKA and see “Give the Girl Her Fourpence," "Molly from Longford (1)," "Money in Hand," "Reel (86)," "Ril na Drithleog.” Irish, Reel. E Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A reel-time version of “Molly from Longford (1),” a tune that is set as both a jig and reel. The title is a sexually suggestive one, remarks Brendan Breathnach. The reel was recorded in 1915 in the 78 RPM era by fiddler James McCarthy (with pianist Paddy Muldoon backing him), for Gennett Records.
