WHEN THE TIDE COMES IN. AKA and see "Factory Smoke," “Tide Come In (2).” English, Hornpipe. England, Northumberland. G Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The composition is credited to Tyneside fiddler-composer James Hill (c. 1811-1853). However, see note for “Tide Come In (2)” and related tunes for more. It appears in under the "When the Tide Comes In" title in the mid-19th century music manuscript collections of Northumbrian musicians John Nichol [1] and John Baty.
