PLEASURES OF THE TOWN [4], THE. AKA - "Pleasure of Providence (The)." American, Jig (6/8 time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody appears in a few American musicians' manuscript collections of the post Colonial era, including those of John and William Pitt Turner (1788, Norwich, Conn.), Timothy Swan (1775, Northfield, Mass.), dancing master John Griffiths (1789), and Silas Dickenson (1800, Amherst, Mass.).
