HORSE IN THE POUND. AKA and see "Carolan's Favorite Jig," "Humours of Dublin (2) (The)," "Mary O'Neill (1)," "Rutland Jig (The)." Irish, Jig. The tune appears under this title in the mid-19th century music manuscript collection of Anglican cleric and uilleann piper James Goodman (County Cork). The tune appears in Stanford/Petrie (1905, No. 981) as "Carolan's Favorite Jig," and in Gow's Complete Repository (vol. 1, 36) as "Humors of Dublin (2) (The)." Breathnach finds the title "Rutland Jig (The)" in County Leitrim.
