TAYLOR'S MARCH [4], THE. AKA - "March of the Corporation of Tailors." AKA and see "Beware of the Ripples," "Rippels (The)." Scottish, March (6/8 time). The tune was employed by poet Robert Burns for his song "The Tailor" ("The Taylor fell thro' the bed, thimble an' a'"), published in Johnson's Scots Musical Museum, vol. III (Song 212, p. 221). Burns also used it for his bawdy song "I rede you beware of the ripples young man", published posthumously in his Merry Muses of Caledonia. See note for "annotation:Beware of the Ripples" for more.
