FOX HUNT [2], THE. AKA and see "Carlton House (2)." English, American; Jig. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. The melody was published in George P. Knauff's Virginia Reels, vol. III (Baltimore, 1839) as "The Fox Hunt." However, it appears at nearly the same time in the large music manuscript collections of multi-instrumentalist John Rook, of Waverton, near Wigton, Cumbria, under the title "Carlton House (2)," and in Lake District musician William Irwin's 1838 copybook.
