FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN(S) [2], THE. AKA and see "Boys of Bockhill," "Boys of Rockhill," "Humors of Bantry," "Billy Patterson's Favorite," "Blackthorn Stick (1)," "Catholic Boys (3)," "Rose on the Mountain (1) (The)," "Eagle's Nest (The)," "Coach Road to Sligo (1) (The)," "Hare on the Mountain (The)." Irish, Double Jig. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. This title is a "floater" but it has long been established with this jig. It was entered as "Fire on the Mountains" in the large mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork cleric, uilleann piper and collector James Goodman.

Source for notated version: "Mr. Victor Power of Leap Co. Cork, a good amateur violinist, with much knowledge of Irish music, about 1875" (Joyce).
