MISS CRUICKSHANK'S REEL [2]. Scottish, Reel (cut time). D Major> Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by fiddler-composer biography:James Porteous (1762-1847) of Annandale, Dumfries. Porteous issued one collection, A Collection of Strathspeys, Reels & Jigs, Respectfully Dedicated to Lady Jardine of Applegarth; Arranged for the Piano Forte, Violin & violoncello by James Porteous (Edinburgh, 1821). The melody was entered into the 1840 music manuscript collection of multi-instrumentalist John Rook, of Waverton, near Wigton, Cumbria.
